Communicate in Internet is really easy.
E-mail is the more used intrument.
But, how we should do when we want to "speak" with a friend "online"? When we wish to urgently share an opinion, or simply to greet someone, without waiting the e-mails delay times?
The first problem is: we never know exactly when a friend is connected; then, it isn't so easy to maintain a discussion using e-mail messages.
Internet gave us the right answer: the "Instant Messengers".
They are programs that, after the download and installation in your PC, will register you in their servers, often using an "unique number" - a sort of telephone number only for you -, giving you the opportunity to put other registered people in your "Contact Lists" and to communicate with them in "real time".
The first goal, when you'll have a new people in your "Instant Messenger" list, will be to see always when he's "online".
Then you could use a lot of communication services, able to make easier your ideas exchanges: you could send for example "short messages" or files without size limitation; you could open "chats" for 2 or more people....

The most famous "Instant Messenger" is certainly ICQ. You can find more info about this program looking at the Web Site:

The program is really interesting for all the people that want to use Internet for working or friendship communications. It overcomes the E-mails limitations and give you an easy access to many functions.

For the more expert people: You can download the IrCQ-Net "Plugin" too. This program works with the standard ICQ, allowing you to open "chats" in IRC format. You can download the program from the Mirabilis Web Site, looking at the dedicated page, or clicking the link below:

When you'll have downloaded the ICQ program, you have only to install it in your PC, following the SetUp step by step and leaving your Internet Connection opened. At the end the program will assign your "Unique Number" (UIN) and will connect you to the ICQ server.
Then you could start to add the numbers of other people in your list (asking these numbers to your friends).
The program is really easy to use, even full of functions. However, in the Mirabilis Web Site you can find a special Help Page and at least order the ICQ Guide too:

Download ICQ as soon as possible. Lot of Lions already use it all over the world to meet their Fellows on the NET!

ICQ Lions dedicato

The ICQ program has a special version, called "Groupware". Mirabilis realized this program to allow communications for Intranet Groups.
One of the ICQ Standard "limitations", for a lionistic use, is that your number is public and anyone could find it using a "random" search.
The Standard program at leastm uses its own server, often busy and placed in the other face of the world. So, sometime, it coold be difficult to join other people cause a slow connection.
ICQ Lions dedicated (Groupware) was used for the first time in the lionistic world, to built a communications group only for Lions.
The system has 2 programs: a Server program and a Client. The first one is placed in the same server where this Site runs, so the connections should be always fast and secure.

Differently from the Standard ICQ, you need some informations before to install the program.
During the installation you have to fill in the form, that ask you this information, the name server where you want to connect:

the port number:

4000

Then you have to require the authorization to use this service:

REQUEST ACCESS

During the request access procedure you have to fill all the necessary informations about you and the motivation. At least you have to connect to the server:

CONNECT

Then the programs will send your informations to the Server and, after few days, when your request will be authenticated, you'll receive an e-mail message with your ICQ Lions dedicated "Unique number" (UIN) and the default password for the first connection.
When you'll have your number and the default password, run the program. When the server connection will be opened the program will ask your number and password, opening a special window. Fill the form and you'll be ready to use this special communication system Lions Dedicated. Please, don't forget to change the default password with your own.
When you'll be connected you could add all the members in your list, starting from the number 1019.

Please, remember that the ICQ Lions dedicated program is completely independent from the Standard ICQ; your UIN are different, as the servers where you will be connected. You could leave both the programs opened during an Internet connection.

Download and install the ICQ Lions dedicated as soon as possible. This program will be the favourite communication system of the E.I.L.C. Members!
