Title: The Internet Europa Lions
Club - An instrument for European Lions without borders |
Proposed by: Lion
Corrado Lattanzi MD 108 ITALY Lion Club: Massa e Carrara Host |
Summary: Considering the
positive experience with the "virtual" Clubs already active in the world - for
example CIRCLE, a South American Leo initiative with 370 members from all over, the
California Lions on Line, the Toronto CyberLions, the Yahoo Lions Club, and the MD118
Yahoo Club, and taking into consideration the wide use of internet for communications
between European Lions and the presence of the same in some of the above mentioned Clubs,
it seems now opportune to develop a European virtual club, which should serve not only as
an instrument for Club communications but as a new means for interaction between European
Lions for an international vision of the Association and the knowledge/debates/development
of activities of transnational services. |
Description:
The project is to create a European "virtual" Club, which
will unify all Clubs already active in Internet and offer the necessary information to
those who wish to know about Lions in Internet.
The new Club, following existing models, will have a Web site, a Statute, a Board of
Directors, and rules for affiliation, following the standards of the L.C.I. The Club will
organize Lion "chats" for social purposes or to discuss suggested topics
relating to the objectives of the Association, on pre established dates with the
supervision of a Secretary/Chatmaster who will also keep "minutes" of the
"chat" for the records and send copies to the members from a mailing list of the
Club. The mailing list will maintain contacts between the members in the spirit of
friendship and service at an international level.
This fast and easy method for interaction between Lions and the pride in being a part of
an International Club will stimulate members to sustain new initiatives and to collaborate
even with other Associations and organizations within his own country as well with other
countries on the development of projects, services and fund raising. This new media
instrument as well as the traditional ones will help promote the Lions Image and help
publicize how Lions through the use of this very instrument are able to continue with
their mission and work towards uniting populations.
It is the hope that these Internet officers of all the European nations will become
members of the Club and help construct through this formula an efficient network of Lions
information and communication in Europe.
The foundation of this Club is being planned for Saturday during the Pre-Forum, the time
still to be determined. On that occasion the 20 founding members , in person or through
internet, will approve the constitution, the Statute, the first Board of Directors, and
the ruling norms to initiate the project. In the meantime, all the pertaining proofs as
well as the Order of the Day will be prepared and discussed between the 20-founding
members, through the exchange of e-mail. The success of this initial phase will be a good
test for the project. By the date of the Forum 2000, the Project should be able to give
some initial results as well as propose new initiatives.
Objective: There is no better way to summarize the objective than to use the words
of PID Rodolfo Alfredo Marinelli, Onorary President of CIRCLE:
Call together the largest possible group of Lions utilizing the most modern medium
of communications.
Integrate all these people by the most modern means of communications
Reaffirm and reinforce the Internationalism of Lionism
Cooperate, through friendship, to create more and better services across the
Internet
Labor to reaffirm Unity and World Peace with the support of a modern communication
system
Extend each day the grand idea of service on the part of an organized and
intelligent Lionism
And as Damien Roth, the founder of CIRCLE, Lions Club Besancon, France stated:
"Lionism is formidabile!!!!!! With the Internet
it is transformed into something
gigantic. Melvin Jones would not have been able to imagine what we are able to do
now!"
It is time to unite in the WEB even the European Lions: The EuropaLionsClub in Internet
can be the instrument necessary to construct the "Vision in Action" the motto of
our International President. |
