TITLE: Purchase of computer science equipment for the urban school, Club of Lions No. 29
PLACE: Cúcuta, Colombia

COST: US $23,000. Costo por computador US $2,300

Summary:
The project consists of the acquisition of 10 computers that are going to benefit a population of 648 students, registered in layers I and II, that means a low social economic level. The school has telephone line and the access to Internet is the following step. This project will contribute to a great extent to the improvement of the quality of the education, since the computer science will be learned. The community in their majority are single mother’s, which gains the sustenance washing and ironing other people’s clothes.

The school Lions Club Nº 29, has 19 groups distributed in 2 days, with a total of 648 students. It has a classroom destined for this study, in other words for the education of computer science.

Salon de estudiosThe local Cúcuta Oriente Lions Clubs sponsors of the project must commit themselves to the following points:

· Co-ordinate the qualification that periodically will receive the teachers, who use the equipment

· Verify the cost on the use of the equipment, which is due periodically to be sent to the Cúcuta Oriente Lions Club.

· Inform periodically the use given to the equipment, to the Organization that contributed with the economic resource.

· Verify the suitable and correct use of the money, given by the Sponsors.

· Visit the School, to make sure the correct function of the equipment and to quickly solve the problems that could appear.

The total investment for the computers would be:

Cost of 10 computers U.S. $ 23,000. Cost by unit is U.S. $ 2,300.

Objective:
To develop for the students of the school, Lions Club Nº 29 the necessary basic information for a normal productive performance in a very competitive world and global at the time. The learning of the new technologies, like computer science, for our youth it is a guarantee of a better performance, for the men of the future.

PLACE: Toledo. Norte de Santander. Colombia

Summary:
The municipality of Toledo in the Northern Department of Santander, is considered one of the zones of greater cattle production, and its derivatives like milk. The "Hogar Juvenil Campesino Toledito", is a centre of technical average education, that prepares children and young farmers for labour performance in the rural production.

Description:
The Home counts on the infrastructure for the production of dairy products, which is in disuse and a little abandoned. It is required to equip the lines of production of dairy products and additional equipment is also necessary to guarantee a good quality and competition in the market.

The local Toledo San Luis Lions Clubs co-sponsors of the project must commit themselves to the following points:

· Coordinate the qualification given to the personnel, and in the production dairy products

· Plan the cost on the development of the micro company, which they are due to send periodically to the Club of Lions Toledo San Luis.

· Inform periodically to the Organization the advances of the economic resource given to the micro company

· Give suitable and correct use to the payment, given by the sponsors.

· Visit the Home, when they considers advisable and to offer it the necessary support in the problems that may appear.

The total investment for repair, buys and maintenance of the equipment would be:

Luthier y alumnaTITLE: COLOMBIAN MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND DIDACTIC MATERIAL MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP

 

PLACE: MUNICIPALITY OF GINEBRA, CAUCA VALLEY DEPARTMENT

 

COST: US$: 9,800.oo

 

Summary: The project comprises the performance of some workshops to manufacture musical instruments, such as guitarrillos (small guitars), tiples, bandolas and guitars, as well as preparing musical didactic material. The clases is to be given to teenagers from the Ginebra school community. Ginebra is located in the Department of the Valley of the Cauca, in the South West Colombia; the capital of the department is called Santiago of Cali, which is the third city in importance of the country.

Ginebra is the capital of Colombian Andean music; for 27 years, it has been making an annual Festival, with much effort manages to maintain alive national cultural values.

It is an Agricultural municipality, with 19,000 inhabitants distributed, 5,000 in the municipal head and the rest in the mountainous countryside. Thanks to the " Festival Mono Núnez ", the town has been acquiring a tourist profile that is an important issue in its economy, thanks that the town has also a very beautiful urban layout, with large zones of protected environment.

Unfortunately it has very high indices of poverty and illiteracy, which gives few opportunities of development for the young people and for that reason the violence is a latent threat. Nevertheless this cultural profile that the Ginebrans have been winning little by little has a blessing, which hopes to maintain and to increase as means for reducing violence.

 

Description: Three 4-month workshops are to be performed throughout the year, at various levels, for up to 50 youngsters between 12 and 18 years of age.

- Basic concepts on how to manufacture a guitarrillo.

- Vinyl and lacquer finishes

- Tuning

 

Second level: Duration: four months

- Woods preparation and cutting

- Preparing a bandola

- Aniline and lacquer finishes

Third level: Duration: four months

- Guitar and tiple manufacture

- Dyes and lacquer finishes

- Tuning

 

The workshops for the preparation of didactic materials are addressed to boys and girls between 8 and 12 years of age. They are to be performed in three levels, and for up to 50 students.

The local Ginebra Monarca Lions Clubs co-sponsors of manufacturing workshop must commit themselves to the following points:

· Premises

· Tools and specialized machinery supply

· Administration of sponsors-provided funds

· Hiring specialized professionals

· Controlling the object of the contract.

· Reporting about the six-month financial statement.

Objective: To promote the healthy and creative use of spare time for Ginebra’s children and youngsters, which results in the prevention of drug addiction and alcoholism. Thus, more sensitive persons could be educated, who will be trained to offer our society their services as musical-instrument manufacturers and repairers.

To offer the students a vocational and / or labor alternative parallel to the basic academic study.

To implement alternatives in order for our students to contribute to their own welfare and the one of their own community, by strengthening their self-esteem and their spiritual life.

TITLE: Ampliación de la Planta Física del Hogar Infantil Tesoritos.

PLACE: Bochalema. Norte de Santander. Colombia

Summary:

The "Children’s Home Tesoritos", is located within the Club House of the Bochalema Lions Club, in the municipality of Bochalema, one hour from the city of Cucuta. This is an Organization administered by the local Club Lions. Its aim is to offer attention to the basic necessities of protection, nutrition and individual social development, to children younger than 5 years. These children remain there during the hours that their mothers work. At the present time they are being taken care of an average of 30 children per day. The families who go to the Centre are of a low social-economic level, located in layers I and II.

Description:

The "Children’s Home Tesoritos", is administered by the Bochalema Lions Club, and is working at the present time taking care of 30 children, but the demand of places is permanent from the mothers with limited economic resources, that see in the "Children’s Home Tesoritos" a very good alternative leave their children, while they work. There, the children receive feeding, education and a suitable treatment. With the money asked, two large rooms with their bathrooms will be constructed, the area of construction is 120,0 m2.

 

The local Bochalema Lions Clubs co-sponsors of Home must commit themselves to the following points:

· Coordinate the construction through its professional engineers and architects.

· Preparer to its cost the information on use given to the money.

· Inform periodically to the Sponsoring Club that as contribute economically.

· Give the suitable and correct use to the money, given by the Sponsors.

· Visit permanently the "Children’s Home Tesoritos" and to offer the necessary support in the problems that could appear, during the process of construction and use of the rooms.

TITLE: Equipment for a Bank of orthopaedic equipment deposit.

Summary:

The Orthopaedic Bank of the Durania Club Lions, is a dependent organization of the Durania Lions Club, that has it’s home in street 4 Not 0-18, district Lleras Restrepo in the city of Cucuta and it is dedicated to provide in quality of loan (to be returned) of orthopaedic apparatuses to person with low income that have suffered accidents and that by economic limitations do not have money for their rehabilitation (in other words, to purchase orthopaedics apparatuses). They work in collaboration with the Hospital Erasmo Meoz, which cover the Departmental. The country Colombia, this whipped by the guerrilla and paramilitary, who in their eagerness to gain territory, displaces the farmers a violent way, undergoing these the action with personal mines and another series of damages to it’s people.

 

Description:

The Orthopaedic Bank of the Durania Lions Club has very little equipment in their inventory at the present time, with the purpose of lending it to the patients who need to rehabilitate themselves. They only have the following inventory: 15 wheelchairs, 12 pair of crutches, and 3 Zimmer frames of aluminium. The average of use of the apparatuses is of 1 to 3 months by each patient. The region to take care of has more than 1,4 million people and what they are asked is for basic apparatuses it would occur that their would be a greater coverage and an efficient service to the patients during the process of the rehabilitation, without cost for the patients.

 

The local Durania Lions Clubs co-sponsors of project must commit themselves to the following points:

· Coordinate and to organize use that it will give to the orthopaedic equipment provided

· Prepare the cost information on use given to the orthopaedic equipment.

· Inform periodically to Sponsoring Club that as contribute with the economic resource

· Give the suitable and correct use to the payment, given by sponsors.

· Visit Orthopaedic Bank, when it considers advisable and to offer it the necessary support with the problems that appears, during the process of recovery of the equipment.

The total investment for the project would be:

Objective:

To solve the absolute lack of inventory of orthopaedic apparatuses, to render the Orthopaedic Bank of the Durania Lions Club, with the purpose of providing with "loan system" character to the needed families that does not have economic capacity for their purchase, necessary the orthopaedic apparatus, also increasing the coverage of the service. The fundamental objective is that the treated patients have the opportunity to rehabilitate themselves and to integrate when socially.
