Earthquake in numbers

I believe that the numbers speak by themselves, Central America has undergone the desolation of another earthquake. I believe that it is only right that an International Association as ours must help those who have suffered so much.

In many cases people have lost everything, even their loved ones. Being International we must be consequent and be generous, with those that have lost everything. We must think, that the lions of "El Salvador" need all the possible aid. The Euro Latin-American Committee, with the unconditional Support of the EILC, this serving as liaison to give the possibility of helping through our Foundation to El Salvador.

Often we have the tendency to give the money we got with our effort to other organizations and our proposal is to have these funds are given to the Foundation and in the name of all the Lions of the World, LCIF can make a worthy and prestigious project.

Simply all you have to do is send your donation directly to LCIF saying that are Designated Funds for El Salvador to the account: " El Salvador Earthquake 5042 ". The Lions of Spain have had a very positive experience with LCIF. Our most important achievements have been: 23 houses in Tipitapa (Nicaragua), 10 houses in Catacamas and 18 houses in San Luis (Honduras), with our participation we contributed funds for the victims of the earthquake of Turkey, and finally we sent 4,800,000 pesetas to the LCIF for the construction of houses in Venezuela (That are yet to be built). What we want to achieve, is that through the EILC, we can get more Districts and Clubs to participate in this form for making Leonismo.

Terremoto en cifras

Creo que las cifras hablan por si solas, otra vez Centro América ha sufrido la desolación de una terremoto. Creo que es solamente justo que una organización Internacional como la nuestra se muestre solidaria con los que han sufrido tanto.

Son muchísimos los casos que han perdido todo, incluso a sus seres queridos. Siendo una Asociación Internacional, tenemos que ser consecuentes y ser solidarios, piensan que los Leones de "El Salvador" están necesitados de toda la ayuda posible. Este Comité Euro Latinoamericano, con el Apoyo incondicional del EILC, esta sirviendo de conexión para coordinar la posibilidad de ayudar a través de nuestra Fundación a "El Salvador".

Muchas veces tenemos la tendencia de entregar el dinero de nuestro esfuerzo a otras organizaciones y nuestra proposición es conseguir que estos fondos sean entregados a la Fundación y que ellos en nombre de todos los Leones del Mundo, puedan hacer un proyecto digno y grandioso.

Los Leones de España han tenido unas experiencias muy positivas en este sentido, o sea con la participación de LCIF. Lo que queremos es que a través del EILC consigamos que sean más los Distritos y Clubes que participen en esta forma de hacer Leonismo.

As the horrific human tragedy unfolds in wake of the USA terrorist attacks, Lions around the world are rallying to support relief efforts by donating blood and sending donations.

The charitable funding arm of Lions, The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has issued an initial grant of US$100,000 to support relief efforts and has established a special fund to receive donations from Lions and others worldwide.  The funds will support the efforts of New York-area Lions clubs to assist the victims, the families and the heroic relief workers, as well as help those in other parts of the country affected by the tragedy.

"Although the needs are uncertain at this time, it is undeniable that this disaster is will result in enormous loss of life.  It's a time when all people concerned with humanity and opposed to senseless violence can come together to help those who are suffering unimaginable hardship.   The initial $100,000 LCIF grant is a gesture of our sympathy and solidarity for the victims, and I know individual Lions clubs around the world will contribute what they can."

LIONS IN NEW YORK-AREA RESPOND

With a network of more than 1,000 Lions clubs in New York and hundreds in the metropolitan area, local Lions are involved in relief efforts in several ways.

In the hours following the disaster, the Lions clubs network in greater New York State area organized an appeal for members to donated blood.

        Emergency meetings of the New York City Lions clubs (District 20R2) will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, to plan for immediate and long-term relief efforts.  In similar disasters, such as the Oklahoma City bombing disaster, local Lions provided support for everything from medical expenses, aid to small business owners, to scholarships for children who lost their parents.

A medida que se descubre este horrible ataque terrorista a EE.UU., Leones de todo el mundo están entregándose para apoyar los esfuerzos en recoger sangre y enviar donaciones.

El brazo caritativo de la asociación, la Fundación (LCIF) aprobó una ayuda inicial de 100.000$, para apoyar los esfuerzos de los socorristas, además ha establecido un fondo para recibir donaciones de Leones y otros a través del mundo. Esos fondos, van a apoyar el esfuerzo del los Clubes de Leones en el área de Nueva York, para ayudar a las victimas, las familias y los héroes del socorro, además de ayudar a todos los que se han visto afectadso en otras partes del país.

Aunque las necesidades son dudosas en este momento, no cabe la menor duda que este desastre provocará una enorme perdida de vidas. Este es el momento, cuando todo el mundo está preocupado con la humanidad y se opone a la violencia sin sentido, nos unimos para ayudar a todos aquellos que están sufriendo este inimaginable dolor. Los 100.000$ iniciales de LCIF, es un gesto de condolencia y solidaridad con las victimas, yo se que individualmente los Clubes de Leones de alrededor el mundo van a colaborar todo lo que puedan.

LEONES EN NUEVA YORK - UN ÁREA QUE RESPONDE

Con una red con más de 1.000 clubes de Leones en Nueva York y cientos en el área metropolitana, los Leones locales emprendieron ayudas en diferentes formas.

Horas después del desastre, los Leones organizaron una red para conseguir que la gente donara sangre.Una reunión de emergencia de los Leones de Nueva York (Distrito 20R2) fue llevado acabo el miércoles 12 de septiembre, para planear las ayudas inmediatas y a largo alcance.

En desastres similares, como ocurrido con la bomba en Oklahoma, Leones del lugar ayudaron con todo tipo de gastos, desde medicinas, ayuda a pequeños empresarios y becas estudiantiles a niños que han perdieron sus padres.

Earthquake in Morocco, 24 of February 2004

Summary and Description:

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in northern Morocco is over 571, but hundreds of other people were reported injured in and around the Mediterranean port city of Al Hoceima when the quake, measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale, struck early on Tuesday 24 of February as many people were sleeping in their houses.

            In the village of Ait Kamara, 18km to the south of Al Hoceima, many houses were flattened like cardboard boxes, 70% of the house have been destroyed. The small villages around Al Hoceima, where the ones that where more severely damaged.

            Josephine Shields, an official with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Tunis, said six villages within 15km of Al Hoceima had been badly destroied by Tuesday's quake. "We've been told that the entire affected area has between 300 000 and 400 000 people."

The local Lions Clubs will present a project to LCIF

Objective:

To be able to give the possibility of the Lions of Morocco to present a project through LCIF so the people of this zone, devastated by the earthquake, can have their area rebuilt, which is probably the only form to survive this un-development zone of the world. If you remember well, we have done a great job together in Turkey, Peru, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc. Thanks to the great contribution of the Lions of the world as designated Funds. It’s our wish to repeat this successful way of working together.

Terremoto en Marruecos, 24 de Febrero del 2004

Resumen y Descripción:

Un potente seísmo de 6.5 grados sacudió durante la noche del martes 24 de Febrero el norte de Marruecos. El número de víctimas del temblor de tierra fueron más de 571 muertos y hubo cientos de heridos alrededor de la ciudad de Alhucemas.

Por ejemplo el pueblo de Ait Kamara a 18 kilometres al sur de Alhucemas, quedaron destruidas el 70% de sus casas. Son los pueblos más pequeños alrededor de Alhucemas, los que han sufrido mayores destrozos.

Josephine Shields, de la Cruz Roja Internacional, dijo citando fuentes de la Defensa Civil en Alhucemas que hay reportes de que 6 aldeas estaban totalmente destruidas. Se informó que el número de personas afectadas es de entre 300.000 a 400.000 personas.

Los Clubes de Leones de la región presentarán un proyecto a LCIF

Objetivo:

Vamos a dar la posibilidad a los Leones de Marruecos de presentar un proyecto a través de la Fundación, así las personas de la zona devastado por el seísmo, podrán tener reconstruidos sus pueblos, es la única forma de sobrevivir en una zona subdesarrollada como esta. Se recordaran, que ya hemos realizado una gran labor juntos en Turquía, Perú, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc. Todo esto ha sido posible gracias a la gran contribución en “fondos designados” de los Leones del mundo. Es nuestro deseo repetir esa forma exitosa de trabajar juntos.
